The mirror in the river shows inverted realities
In a shimmering light
And the sound of the water
Slaps against the river bank
Like a ticking clock that counts down
To the infinite moment at which you appear
Am I waiting for you?
A church bell begins to ring
But changes it’s mind and decides it’s not quite time
To bother anybody yet
Incoherent ideas won’t hold together
They’re in need of some sort of superglue
To provide them with context and sense
But I sense no passing of time
They still say “hey, you look like a-“
Surfer boy, but I can barely surf
You look like a surfer boy
They still say hey
You look like a surfer boy
But I can, barely surf
